Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine of Inari, located in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Japan. The shrine sits at the base of a mountain also named Inari, and includes trails up the mountain to many smaller shrines. Since in early Japan Inari was seen as the patron of business, each of the Torii is donated by a Japanese business. First and foremost though, Inari is the god of rice. Merchants and manufacturers worship Inari for wealth. Donated torii lining footpaths are part of the scenic view...

..et c'est comme ca pendant des kilometres...
...and it goes like this for miles...

...je vois la vie en rouge...

...avec des renards partout. D'un cote, le renard a une balle en bouche, symbole de je sais plus trop quoi...
...with foxes everywhere. On one side, the fox holds a ball and the other a key. The "star ball" is said to hold some of the fox's magic inside...

...Et de l'autre, le renard a en bouche la clef du cellier en riz...
...the key represents a key to a granary...

...et voila, nous on allume des cierges, eux, ils achetent des mini torii...
...there you go. In europe, we light candles. in Japan they buy mini torii...

...beaucoup de mini toriii...
...many mini torii...

...hmmm hmmm, droite ou gauche?...
...ahem ahem, left or right?...

...du rouge, sous toutes se formes.
